Since 1978, the Family unit Resources Centre of South Florida has been championing the rights of children to grow up in a healthy and safe environment. We were founded by a group of concerned citizens, with the mission to help prevent and treat kid abuse and neglect through the strengthening of families.

Today, the bureau is a leader in child welfare services, providing a full continuum of services that help foreclose and treat child abuse and fail through the strengthening of families. In the past yr, Family Resource Eye of South Florida provided services to more 2,500 children, adolescents and adults. Most referrals come from the Florida Department of Children and Families, Citrus Family unit Care Network, the Miami-Dade Canton Juvenile Court, and the Guardian Ad Litem Program. Services are available in English language, Castilian and Creole.

The Family unit Resource Center is driven by the principle that nothing is more than fundamental to a customs than the safety and well being of its children. Its goal is to prevent and change dysfunctional parent/kid interaction patterns, promote positive self-concepts, and build healthy relationships to preclude child corruption and neglect through family support, crisis intervention, housing location, family preservation, parent education and counseling. Child corruption and neglect continue to exist a growing problem in South Florida. To make matters worse, deep funding cuts to social service agencies coupled with more than than 198,000 Hotline abuse reports terminal year take combined to create an overwhelming budget crunch for agencies like the Family Resource Center that daily stand in the gap for these children and families.

Oren Wunderman, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist, matrimony and family therapist and mental wellness counselor. He is the executive director of the Family Resource Center of Due south Florida, a combined child welfare agency and customs mental health centre, where he has worked for over 24 years.

A mental health professional person in South Florida for more than 30 years, Dr. Wunderman is the one-time psychologist for the Child Protection Team of South Miami-Dade, where he evaluated numerous families apropos allegations of child abuse and fail.

He earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Miami and completed boosted training in executive direction from the business schools of Harvard University and Florida International Academy.
